Lean is Management System that enables a Company improve competitiveness by bringing its’ processes to a “World Class” level of effectiveness and efficiency. “World Class” is a performance level defined by the leading international businesses.
Lean originated in Japan in a course of 30 years after the WWII where it’s mostly known as Toyota Production System (TPS). Toyota Motor Co. was the key contributor to the methodology.
The term “Lean” was introduced by J.P.Womack, D.Ross and D.T.Jones in their book “The Machine that Changed the World” in 1990.
Although, Lean has originated in Manufacturing, later on it has been widely applied in Service, Healthcare, Military and Government.
